Here's what some of our members have to say about themselves.
About 2 years ago, we moved our kids to Wirral UKTA Taekwondo because we wanted a more nurturing environment. We were not disappointed! The instructors are patient, considerate and motivational. My daughter has now got her black belt. I am Jay, I am 40 plus, I used to sit and watch my children take part in the taekwondo class and decided I would like to have a go to lose weight and increase my fitness. I am in my 2nd week and I was surprised at how much fun it is. The lessons always have a mixed variety of exercise and drills which you can do at your own pace. I always leave with the feeling I have accomplished something I didn't think I could do." |
My name is Federica. I'm a 17 year old Italian girl and I’m spending one year in England to improve my English. I’ve been doing kickboxing since I was 9 and this year I decided to enjoy tkd because is a discipline that always interested me as I think it can give me more self control and self confidence, and then can help me improving my kicks for kickboxing." Dan 31. After leaving the armed forces after 12 years I found myself in a job where I spend 80% of my day sitting down, moving from a physical and demanding job to a sales job I found myself gaining a lot of weight and loosing fitness & flexibility fast, after searching around I found Wirral UKTA Taekwon-do and decided it would be an ideal opportunity to get fit, flexible and also learn something new. I had always regretted not learning a martial art growing up and decided now was as good a time as any. Since starting Taekwondo my fitness is starting to improve and my flexibility has vastly improved, my mind is stimulated learning something new every session and it breaks up the mundane day to day life of work and gives me a lot to look forward to. Lastly my self confidence has improved which has had a positive impact on my work and home life." |
I am Hollie and I’m 25. After having my daughter in 2016 and became a full time mum, I noticed I had some spare time to do things. I started going the gym a lot, attending various of classes but something was missing, I wanted to be dedicated to a hobby that I enjoy. I searched around thinking what I could possibly do as I used to dance and swim for a club years ago and I loved that, so I thought perhaps join another club. My dad use to do martial arts when he was young and when he talks about it, it sounds amazing and fun! I came across Wirral UKTA Taekwan-do and they welcomed me into their team, I’ve met awesome new people and the instructors are so friendly and supportive, they’re so lovely! I’m very happy that I’ve joined and eager to progress throughout my time at Wirral UKTA Taekwan-do."
"I started Taekwon-do nearly 5 years ago as it looked like fun and I also wanted to support my younger brother who was doing it. I am nearly 18 now and still training". C.S |
"Im 15 and I've been doing taekwondo for about 6 months now and it was a great decision. Everyone has been extremely friendly and helpful. It's an extremely easy way to keep active and make new friends. I hope to carry it on the future. S.R" "I joined Wirral UKTA about 4 years ago, I'd moved back home to The Wirral and had changed to a job where I was spending my time at a desk. I wanted to do something active rather than join a gym. At 42 I find the stretching and flexibility aspects of taekwon-do to be very beneficial and an excellent challenge. |
"After serving almost 15 years in the Royal Marines, I have always wanted to keep a good level of fitness. Initially I joined a gym, but was missing something. I encouraged my daughter (7 at the time) to join our Taekwondo. After watching her train for a few months I realised that Taekwondo could be exactly what I needed also! I was not wrong. Training with my daughter at the club is awesome! We encourage each other in our journey, attend competitions together and absolutely love it! Our fellow students are very friendly and likeminded. I am thrilled I started, love every lesson and am just sorry I did not find it sooner." J.M "I’m a 13 year old boy. I started doing Taekwon-do over 4 years ago to be able to defend myself from bullies. I still enjoy taekwondo to this day and bullies know not to mess with me now". D.D. |
